205e Central Fire Authority of Sonoma County Fire Marshal

Message from Battalion Chief Matt Gustafson, Fire Marshal

Matt Gustafson A fire department has a great many responsibilities. The most important, in my opinion, is prevention. Prevention includes education, plan review, and inspection. Prevention teaches children to stop, drop, and roll. Prevention assures that new buildings meet all fire and life safety codes. Prevention, through annual inspections, assures businesses operate safely.

At Central Fire, we see prevention as a team effort. We work with you to make our community safer for everyone. Our firefighters spend untold hours each year at schools or talking with field trip classes about being fire safe. We work with contractors in reviewing plans before construction begins and conduct fire code compliance inspections throughout the building process. Our firefighters work with Windsor and Rincon Valley business owners to help them eliminate conditions that increase the likelihood of a fire or impede our ability to efficiently assist in an emergency.

Please feel free to contact me at (707) 838-1170 or mgustafson@cscfire.org if I can be of service to you.
